Murray Sagsveen has been providing legal services and advice to nonprofit corporations for more than 35 years. He is currently the synod attorney for the Western North Dakota Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America; he provides daily pro bono legal services to the Synod and the leadership of more than 150 Lutheran church corporations within the Synod. In addition, he is the pro bono counsel to the North Dakota Association of Nonprofit Organizations (NDANO) and several 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations. Previously, he was the in-house general counsel of an international specialty medical association located in St. Paul, MN. He retired from the North Dakota Army National Guard in 1996 as a brigadier general and was recalled as a major general in 1997 (Red River flood – Grand Forks) and 2011 (Souris River flood – Minot) as the State Flood Recovery Coordinator.
