2020 Nonprofit Leadership Conference

NDANO is excited to host the 2025 Nonprofit Leadership Conference June 4-5 at the Holiday Inn in Fargo. Join us for two days of presentations, learning and networking with fellow nonprofit leaders from across North Dakota.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Ann Crews Melton

Ann Crews Melton is a facilitative leader, nonprofit strategist, and consensus builder. She joined Consensus Council as executive director in 2020. Her career has prioritized ecumenical and interfaith relations, including roles at the Presbyterian Church (USA) and Temple Israel Boston. She remains committed to dialogue across differences, as well as to the transformative power of the arts and humanities. Ann previously served as an editor at the State Historical Society of ND and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City, and as religion reporter at the Bismarck Tribune. A Texas native, Ann holds a bachelor’s degree from Austin College and a master’s degree from Emerson College in Boston. She presented “Building Consensus Across Differences” at TEDxAustinCollege in 2021. Ann is a council member of Heart River Lutheran Church, which meets at the ND Heart River Correctional Center. She is an Aspen Institute Better Arguments Ambassador, former board officer of Humanities North Dakota, and a strong proponent of civic engagement, restorative practices, and participatory decision-making. Ann lives in Bismarck with her family.

Dawn Mandt

Dawn has been a rural development leader in North Dakota for the past 33 years and has dedicated her career to having a bold vision, creating strategic partnerships, and an unwavering commitment to innovative community-driven solutions to rural issues.  She has been the executive director of the Red River Regional Council since 2013 and has transformed the organization into a catalyst for growth. The Regional Council has become a collaborative partner with four other organizations in northeastern North Dakota, including three county development organizations and a regional housing and real estate development partner, the Red River Community Housing Development Organization. She has been recognized by her peers as the Governor’s Choice for Small Cities Economic Developer of the Year and the SBDC State Star. She serves as chairwoman of the ND Association of Regional Councils and serves on the Board of Directors for the ND Council on the Arts and the ND Multi-Partner Health Collaborative striving to make North Dakota the healthiest state in the country.

Melanie Gaebe

Melanie is the North Dakota Public Policy Director for the Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-North Dakota Chapter. She earned her MA in Political Science from American Military University while working as the policy analyst for the ND Department of Agriculture. Melanie has served on a number of volunteer boards including the Morton Mandan Public Library Board of Trustees and the Morton County Fair Board and currently serves on the Behavioral Health Planning Council, the North Dakota Association of Nonprofit Organizations Board, and belongs to Bismarck Rotary as well as a number of public health work groups and associations. In her free time, Melanie is an avid reader and crafter and loves camping whenever possible.

Kim Nagle

Known as The DAMN Plan lady, Kim is definitely a woman with a plan. Her life’s work is evidence of her deep-seated love for all things entrepreneurial - for profit and nonprofit.  She started her first business at 14 and has owned 6 businesses since. Using the same best practices she used to start well-over 250 profitable businesses, Kim has supported the development of multiple nonprofits including Community Development Financial Institutions, Business Centers, Incubators, Agricultural, Arts and Community Development Organizations. Using the 7 best practices for nonprofit profitability, she has created sustainable revenue models for her clients and personally generated over $30 million from diverse revenue streams.
